2. Why did His Majesty’s secret service try to feminize Hitler?
During WWII – that is to say, way before Margaret Thatcher, Golda Meir, and some other badass Iron ladies – the British Secret Service held the strange notion that women are somehow less combative than men.
Hence, they planned to feminize Hitler by inserting estrogen – a hormone that promotes the development of physical female characteristics – into his food. They asserted it would make him less aggressive and more like his docile younger sister Paula, who worked as a secretary.
Estrogen was chosen because it was tasteless and would have a slow and subtle effect, meaning it would pass Hitler’s food tasters unnoticed. Eventually, the operation was not carried out and the world did not get to see the Double-D version of the Führer.
