In 1919, during a game against Philadelphia, Cleveland Indian’s pitcher, Ray Caldwell, was struck by lightning in the middle of the ninth inning; and I don’t mean that metaphorically.
As the badass professional he was, Ray nonchalantly went on playing and, sure enough, got the final out for the win.
What can I say, they definitely don’t make them like they used to…

Bonus Fact 2: Another rare natural electric phenomenon is the Ball Lightning, also known as Fireball. In fact, it is so rare that their very existence is still in question by some. Ball lightning depicts a glowing, tensile-diameter electric body floating in the air, leaving a trail in the shape of an electric aura. Apparently, it’s an awesome sight.
According to the descriptions, lightning balls shine with an intensity close to that of a strong light bulb but do not radiate heat. This terrifying phenomenon can pass through sealed materials. And if that’s not enough, they appear to disappear spontaneously, after a few short seconds or tens of seconds.
